The MG12XU's flexible digital connectivity creates quick and easy high-resolution playback of digital content. Simply connect to your PC via USB, or to your iPhone / iPad using Apple's Camera Connection Kit / Lightning to USB Camera Adapter. The USB protocol uses asynchronous data transfer, and audio data is transferred based on the precise clock signal from the MG12XU for high quality recording and playback.
D-PRE Preamps
The preamp is where your sound begins, and determines the quality and character of your overall mix. The importance of this inspired Yamaha to develop the fattest and warmest sounding preamp possible: the D-PRE mic preamp. 1-Knob Compression
Compressing with the MG12XU is made simple with 1-knob compression on channels 1-4. This intelligent compressor adds optimally set compressions when you need livelier guitars, punchier bass lines, a tighter snare, or a cleaner vocal sound with the touch of a single knob.
Switchable Phantom Power & PAD Switch
With phantom power, the MG12XU allows you to take full advantage of the greater frequency response and sound quality of condenser microphones. The input channels with PAD switch accept MIC to line level of inputs, and the PAD switch reduces high input signals that often accompany instruments during performance, avoiding the clipping that can seriously affect your mix.
EQ and High-Pass Filters

The MG12XU benefits from Yamaha's unparalleled experience in designing pro audio gear, featuring 3-band equalizers on channels 1-8 and 2-band equalizers on channels 9-12 for refined control of your sound. Multiple Input/Output Connectors
Yamaha's MG12XU uses high-quality Neutrik balanced XLR connectors on mono microphone/line channels and XLR equipped stereo channels. Each of the mono inputs is equipped with a combo jack and accepts both MIC and LINE level signals. Two of the stereo inputs are equipped with XLR and two phone connectors with XLR accepting MIC level signals while two phone connectors accepting LINE level signals and can be used either mono or stereo. Two phone connectors accept LINE level signals as stereo. Additionally, two of the stereo channels have 2 RCA connectors and can be used for input from external audio sources such as CD players. In addition to the main stereo outputs (XLR L/R, TRS phone L/R), the MG12XU is equipped with a comprehensive suite of output connectors, including GROUP OUT (TRS phone), AUX/FX OUT (TRS phone), MONITOR OUT (TRS phone L/R), and HEADPHONE OUT (stereo phone) connectors, allowing master outputs to be chosen to suit specific applications such as monitoring or mastering.
